There are really no words to express how much this album means to me. I wasn't even interested in music, period, before my friend bought Shakira's first(ish) CD, Pies descalzos, and intrigued me enough to go buy Shakira's next album - the one in this post. It introduced me to the Spanish language, to a different kind of sound, to belly dancing, and to a woman whose music I cannot live without. Every song on this album is incredible. Being a person who is addicted to language and writing, I was additionally thoroughly impressed by the lyrics - even just the crappy online translations that were all I could manage at the time. And the music was just a new, revolutionizing experience for me. It's pretty damn cheesy, but this album initiated the creative exploration of songwriting, singing, dancing and languages - most of which are now a gigantic part of who I am, and define me as me.
So, I don't work at Traeger's anymore. Among innumerable stupid other things Bouavanh has pulled, at the end of my last day she had Anna pull me into the office and tell me to stop having attitude (they were trying to find a reason to fire me) and accused me of stealing another waitress' (Blythe) tips. I nearly screamed. Anyway, the next day I came in, prepared to act professional for another week while I looked for another job, Bouavanh started following me around the restaurant, screaming at me. She wouldn't listen to a word I said, and just kept repeating that she saw me take Blythe's tips with her own eyes. She said she was left $8 on a Visa bill, and there was only $3 in her cup. Basically, they took it, or I misread the 8 for a 3. I called my dad and got him to pick me up. I got in the car and he went inside and hollered at Bouavanh. Then the police showed up at my dad's house. The only way she could get them to come was by saying my dad was going to hit her, even though he was standing across the 15 ft. kitchen.
SO, I have a job waitressing now at Doc Hollandaise, which is like a ribs and steak place. The owner is very nice; he jokes around with us all day, which is awesome, and the restaurant is beautiful. I was supposed to have trained on Monday, but I got called in for an 8-hour shift on Sunday, so the next day I basically trained Jennifer (which only consisted of showing her where everything is), who is a co-worker from Traeger's. I'll also be working at Smitty's, which is run by Richard's (owner of Doc Hollandaise) wife, Karen. I was hoping to get some hours there this week, but no luck. Anyway...
I'm hoping to get some writing done soon because Jennifer agreed to be my writing buddy. And, I'm super excited to go back to school. In the first term I'm taking drama, Chinese, anthropology, Greek mythology and something else, I'm not sure what yet. I also plan to stay at school in the evenings to write. And I've got Chris' mom teaching me piano when she gets back from Banff. I'm hopefully going to be taking belly dancing again. And hopefully find a voice teacher. I've also been spending my time watching Grey's Anatomy, and now have got Chris, Justin and Jennifer addicted. It's such a good show. *cry*
And this is really, really lame, but I bought Lindsay Lohan's CD "A Little More Personal" and... I love it...
If money were no object, which five luxury items would you rush right out and buy?

So I'm at my cousin April's birthday party, who is 8 or so; there's alot of kids running around, and I have a headache. I'm avoiding doing my Spanish assignments and studying for German. 7 of my aunts and uncles are playing poker. 7 out of like... 283762382. My mom has 13 brothers and sisters and my dad has 7. I think I have over 40 cousins now - one was born just a couple days ago. They named him Atreyu after the main character in "The Neverending Story". Hehehe.
We're doing animal communication in linguistics right now. It's pretty damn sweet. I now know that chimpanzees can deceive and parrots can count. Fascinating. After class on Wednesday I did some research on the subject that mostly pointed me to the American Acoustic Society. Also learned about this grey parrot somewhere named Alex, who is the one that can do the counting. Apparently the most words a parrot has ever learned is about 800, but Alex has over 100 meaningful words. This stuff makes me happy. *demented grin*
Best line I received on MSN today:

Hehe.
Tegan and Sara are gonna have a new CD out in July! Avril Lavigne has a new CD on the 27th or something! I ordered Joss Stone: Introducing Joss Stone, Jennifer Lopez: Como ama una mujer and Beyonce: B'day Deluxe Edition (mostly for the duets with Shakira)! Yay!
