There are really no words to express how much this album means to me. I wasn't even interested in music, period, before my friend bought Shakira's first(ish) CD, Pies descalzos, and intrigued me enough to go buy Shakira's next album - the one in this post. It introduced me to the Spanish language, to a different kind of sound, to belly dancing, and to a woman whose music I cannot live without. Every song on this album is incredible. Being a person who is addicted to language and writing, I was additionally thoroughly impressed by the lyrics - even just the crappy online translations that were all I could manage at the time. And the music was just a new, revolutionizing experience for me. It's pretty damn cheesy, but this album initiated the creative exploration of songwriting, singing, dancing and languages - most of which are now a gigantic part of who I am, and define me as me.
So, I don't work at Traeger's anymore. Among innumerable stupid other things Bouavanh has pulled, at the end of my last day she had Anna pull me into the office and tell me to stop having attitude (they were trying to find a reason to fire me) and accused me of stealing another waitress' (Blythe) tips. I nearly screamed. Anyway, the next day I came in, prepared to act professional for another week while I looked for another job, Bouavanh started following me around the restaurant, screaming at me. She wouldn't listen to a word I said, and just kept repeating that she saw me take Blythe's tips with her own eyes. She said she was left $8 on a Visa bill, and there was only $3 in her cup. Basically, they took it, or I misread the 8 for a 3. I called my dad and got him to pick me up. I got in the car and he went inside and hollered at Bouavanh. Then the police showed up at my dad's house. The only way she could get them to come was by saying my dad was going to hit her, even though he was standing across the 15 ft. kitchen.
SO, I have a job waitressing now at Doc Hollandaise, which is like a ribs and steak place. The owner is very nice; he jokes around with us all day, which is awesome, and the restaurant is beautiful. I was supposed to have trained on Monday, but I got called in for an 8-hour shift on Sunday, so the next day I basically trained Jennifer (which only consisted of showing her where everything is), who is a co-worker from Traeger's. I'll also be working at Smitty's, which is run by Richard's (owner of Doc Hollandaise) wife, Karen. I was hoping to get some hours there this week, but no luck. Anyway...
I'm hoping to get some writing done soon because Jennifer agreed to be my writing buddy. And, I'm super excited to go back to school. In the first term I'm taking drama, Chinese, anthropology, Greek mythology and something else, I'm not sure what yet. I also plan to stay at school in the evenings to write. And I've got Chris' mom teaching me piano when she gets back from Banff. I'm hopefully going to be taking belly dancing again. And hopefully find a voice teacher. I've also been spending my time watching Grey's Anatomy, and now have got Chris, Justin and Jennifer addicted. It's such a good show. *cry*
And this is really, really lame, but I bought Lindsay Lohan's CD "A Little More Personal" and... I love it...

THIS IS ME ACTUALLY UPDATING. LET'S HOPE IT CONTINUES.
I'm very happy because I've reconnected with my friend in Iran who left Canada in Grade 5. Yay! She's studying fashion design. That is totally cool.
I'm still writing music; I was going over all the stuff I have yesterday. Once I rework everything I would actually have enough for a CD. I've also been spending countless hours working on the map of the world in my novel. Still not done coloring the water, but it's so exciting to be doing - designing the land, the cultures, the creatures, the magic, the languages, the characters...
I'm going to try some modeling stuff for fun. There's a model call for Paul Mitchell products on the 27th, so I'm definitely going to attend. Hope it works out. I'm also going to go see a girl that Chris worked with perform her original music that night, at Mystic Java.
Lotus took over my lap and is now kneading me and looking at me pensively.
In your ultimate dream house, what does your favorite room look like?
The one I see right now is my "art" room, big and crowded with shelves and sewing equipment, craft bins, an easel, paintings, a desk for writing, big windows and an expensive keyboard. It would be pink. Supposedly pink rooms stimulate the female hormones, which is good with me (and apparently makes university "sexist" because rooms are all plain and women sometimes have to write exams right before their period - which statistically makes them perform more poorly).
Every room in my house would have it's own color theme. I'm definitely thinking blue for the living room, pastels for the bedrooms, etc. . There would also be a gigantic room for my cats covered wall to wall with carpet and a huge outdoor enclosure as well.
I seriously could have so much fun with this.

Hola, I am Sara. I'm 19; will be 20 on July 31. I have long brown hair and blue eyes and am about 5'5". I have had an online journal on greatestjournal.com for a number of years, but I recently decided to switch to Vox. I like the interface better, and would like a chance to just start over and have a journal with a bigger potential audience than just people who are signed up on the GJ site. So here I am. I have a number of things you will definitely see me be writing about. I'm obsessed with languages and culture (I'm going into my third year of an honors Languages and Linguistics Degree at the University of Saskatchewan). I speak English (obviously) and French and Spanish (sort of) fluently and have studied some German, Italian and Japanese. I love to travel, but have failed to do so so far except for a few summer road trips across the northern United States and Canada and a two-week school trip to Italy/Greece which was incredible. I'm entertaining the idea of being a traveling journalist along with many other things, as you will read.
I am also obessed with writing. I aspire to be a fantasy novelist/poet. I have had an idea in my head for my fantasy series since I have been about twelve. It has evolved alot, fortunately, as it started out as a bad Pokemon and then Harry Potter combination/rip-off. The whole ordeal is very dear to me and I don't often talk about it with other people. Most of my family (you'll hear about them, too) don't know even know I'm writing a book. Most of them do know that I write poetry, though, and some have heard me read aloud at our bookstore during High School writing/song collaborations.
Thirdly, I am obsessed with music. Mainly singing. I have also played the violin (fiddle style) for 10 years now but singing is what does it for me. The only experience I have is being in my high school choir, but I believe I am quite good, at least based on the feedback I have received. I tried out for Canadian Idol this year but didn't pass the first round, "supposedly" because they are not looking for people with "chorus" voices but edgy, rock, blah blah blah. I'll be back next year, anyway. I love writing music. Lyrics are my big thing; I'm just getting used to actually writing the music part. I am determined to have my own CD someday, whether I'm famous or I just have to go and pay to record my own shit. My absolute dream would be to be a singer (and thus, travel) and write on the side.
I am obsessed with cats. I have three of my own and plan for more. I got my first kitten when I was 18, after I begged my dad for a hamster. He had adamantly refused to let me have a cat all my life, but when I wouldn't let up on the hamster issue, he finally agreed, saying "I'd rather you had a cat than a rodent in the house!!!". I have been allergic to animal dander all my life, coincidentially, but obviously I love them enough to get past that, lol. I take MANY pictures and lots of video of my cats. I buy cat books, study cat anatomy, research cat food ingredients and health and spend waaay too much money on my "babies". But what can you do; it's love.
The other love of my life (excluding the inanimate ones above) is my boyfriend of over two years, Christopher. He's (almost) an apprentice auto-mechanic. We don't understand each other alot of the time. But overall, it's pretty great.
Well, there's a taste for you of much of who I am. Hope you're intrigued. Now let's just hope I'll update this damn thing.
