There are really no words to express how much this album means to me. I wasn't even interested in music, period, before my friend bought Shakira's first(ish) CD, Pies descalzos, and intrigued me enough to go buy Shakira's next album - the one in this post. It introduced me to the Spanish language, to a different kind of sound, to belly dancing, and to a woman whose music I cannot live without. Every song on this album is incredible. Being a person who is addicted to language and writing, I was additionally thoroughly impressed by the lyrics - even just the crappy online translations that were all I could manage at the time. And the music was just a new, revolutionizing experience for me. It's pretty damn cheesy, but this album initiated the creative exploration of songwriting, singing, dancing and languages - most of which are now a gigantic part of who I am, and define me as me.
What are your top 10 most-played songs currently?

5. Julieta Venegas - Verdad
6. Avril Lavigne - Hot
7. Cirque du Soleil - Alegria
8. Eric Carmen - It Hurts Too Much
9. Ace of Base - Beautiful Life
10. Dixie Chicks - Traveling Soldier
THIS IS ME ACTUALLY UPDATING. LET'S HOPE IT CONTINUES.
So I'm at my cousin April's birthday party, who is 8 or so; there's alot of kids running around, and I have a headache. I'm avoiding doing my Spanish assignments and studying for German. 7 of my aunts and uncles are playing poker. 7 out of like... 283762382. My mom has 13 brothers and sisters and my dad has 7. I think I have over 40 cousins now - one was born just a couple days ago. They named him Atreyu after the main character in "The Neverending Story". Hehehe.
We're doing animal communication in linguistics right now. It's pretty damn sweet. I now know that chimpanzees can deceive and parrots can count. Fascinating. After class on Wednesday I did some research on the subject that mostly pointed me to the American Acoustic Society. Also learned about this grey parrot somewhere named Alex, who is the one that can do the counting. Apparently the most words a parrot has ever learned is about 800, but Alex has over 100 meaningful words. This stuff makes me happy. *demented grin*
Best line I received on MSN today:

Hehe.
Tegan and Sara are gonna have a new CD out in July! Avril Lavigne has a new CD on the 27th or something! I ordered Joss Stone: Introducing Joss Stone, Jennifer Lopez: Como ama una mujer and Beyonce: B'day Deluxe Edition (mostly for the duets with Shakira)! Yay!
